Ouch! I try. I really DO try, but Italian horror movies just don't do it for me. I mean, my girlfriend is Italian, I love pizza and pastas, and they're generally nice people but after watching a few "classics" from "legends" such as Argento and Fulci, I have to say that Italian horror movies just miss the point.
My latest "attempt" was "The House by the Cemetery". Pointless story, very bad actors (even when I try to bypass the fact that it's translated from Italian to english) and, oh my god, just like 100% of Italian movies, MUSIC IS HORRIBLE!!! It just kills the movie. Doesn't create any mood at all. I think the appropriate word is "laughable". Oh, and the evil doctor is so slow that he's actually funny to look at.
But at least the movie had a few cool gore scenes. But even then, it feels like there are gore scenes because the director told himself, "well, I HAVE to include a gore scene here in there otherwise it won't be a horror movie"
